Substance Projects race Saturday Aug 26th-27th at MOC/DCF/MSW

Just a note to everyone that there will be a great event this coming weekend at MOC/DCF/MSW.

Saturday Aug 26th will be a Substance Projects Marathon Race (formally the Sausage Suit Race 🙂 ) at MOC/DCF. It is one big continuous loop of 30km’s (60km category will do two laps) featuring some of the funnest trails in MOC and DCF combined. There will be orange arrows going up during the week so feel free to disregard them until Saturday and ride as you please. The best part of it being a big loop is no bunching up or bottlenecks which means it is going to be over 95% pure singletrack (with still lots of room for safe passing)!!!! So a true mountain bikers course. Fast, fun, flowy and of course a couple good climbs to keep things honest.

Following the race at MOC, there will be food available for purchase, live music and GoodLot brewery on site for refreshments. MOC members and day pass ticket holders are welcome to come and enjoy a ride, the food, music and GoodLot even if they are not registered in the race (but of course we recommend supporting the event and signing up for a great one lap guided tour of the best of MOC and DCF). And let’s not forget, you can go for a swim in the river at MOC after your race/ride.

And we can keep the fun going as MOC has onsite camping and cabins if you wish to stay the night.

Sunday brings in The Eager Beaver gravel race that will be hosted at Mansfield Skiways across the road (we can’t cross Airport Rd from MOC for a race). Another great event showcasing some of the best gravel riding around in Mulmur Township. Gravel riders are welcome to come join in the fun on Saturday afternoon at MOC and stay over (camping or cabins) so you are right on site the Sunday morning.

Crazy part…you can do both events…60km MTB race on Saturday followed by the 100km Gravel race Sunday. And yes, there is a category for this.

Trails at DCF and MOC will remain open during the race Saturday so please respect the course markings and folks that are racing on Saturday so everyone can have a great time together. If you are riding on Saturday in DCF or MOC, following the course direction would be helpful for everyone.

So we invite everyone to come out and enjoy the Saturday and make this event a mini MTB festival day with bikes, music, food and GoodLot beverages!
