I was out today speaking with the loggers and they are quite sure they will be done by next Friday so we are good to start on Saturday Nov 2nd. Sunday the 3rd will be our “rain date”.
We will start at 9am and will be accessing the “base” location from the 20th Sideroad east of Airport rd. We are able to get our vehicles very close to the work site. We are going to have our work cut out for us as a number of trees were right on the trail. There will be as much trail reconstruction as there with be just cleaning. We will split off into two groups and just start working along in opposite directions. Definitely bring a spade shovel and a rake if you can as well as tampers, gloves, protective eyewear, handsaws, water and snacks. Team van go will provide pizza at the lunch break.
I’m very hopeful with enough hands we can do this in a day.
Please RSVP to me in some way (Contact tab or e-mail are the best so I can keep track of things) and let me know what you do not want on your pizza and I’ll make them up from there.
The trail work will be conducted by the Friends of Dufferin County Forests (FDCF). If you are not a member of the FDCF I recommend that you sign up, it’s easy and worth while. If you are not signed up then please complete the FDCF waiver and bring it along. Everyone must have done this and if you did a “one day” for Ralph’s trail you must do another for this.
